Orally Disintegrating Tablets

Orally disintegrating tablets are typically made by freeze drying or, more economically by conventional tableting techniques. However to achieve the FDA guidance of disintegration in less than 30 seconds it is important to pay particular attention to the appropriate selection of disintegrants in these formulations. Primellose® has been found to be a highly effective disintegrant, very suitable in combination with mannitol which forms the basis for many ODT tablet formulations.
