Binder for Wet Granulation

Binders are used in Wet Granulation processes to aid granule growth with the ultimate aim, after granulation, drying and lubrication, of providing a compression mix that has good flow and compression characteristics. The use of Wet Granulation is commonly used when the dose of active is very low, so that the risk of segregation is minimised, and when the dose of the active is very high in which case it is a very useful means of modifying the flow and compaction characteristics of the API. 

Pregelatinised starch

Pregelatinised starch is a highly effective binder for Wet Granulation formulations. It is typically used in concentrations of 2% to 5% and it can be added as a dry powder to your granulation to be activated by the addition of water. Prejel PA5 PH is made from high quality potato starch that has been fully pregelatinised to ensure maximum water solubility and binder effectiveness.
