Example formulations for Direct Compression

The following formulations have all been prepared using laboratory scale equipment, typically at scales of 500g to 2000g.

Typical equipment used was

Blending:

• Turbula T2K or a Cube mixer 14 litre depending on the batch size.

Mixing was typically performed for 10 minutes to distribute the API, followed by sieving (500μm) and reblending for a further 10 minutes before lubrication.

Compaction was typically performed on one of two rotary tablet machines:

• Kilian RT fitted with open feed frame
• Rotab T fitted with rotary feed frame

Tablet machines were typically operated at an output of approximately 15,000 tablets per hour.

In all cases it is the responsibility of the user to determine suitability for production, stability, registration and sale of the example or suggestion.
