Merger of Friesland Foods and Campina to go ahead

The European Commission gave permission for Friesland Foods and our shareholder Campina to merge.

As from January 1st 2009 this organisation will operate under the new name FrieslandCampina, a company with an annual turnover of approximately € 9,1 billion.

Both Friesland Foods and Campina are active in the pharmaceutical market, Friesland Foods through its Domo Pharma activities and Campina through its share in DMV-Fonterra Excipients, a 50 % joint venture with Fonterra. The European Commission has decided that the pharmaceutical activities of both Friesland Foods and Campina (through its interest in DMV-Fonterra Excipients) may be transferred into the new FrieslandCampina organisation.

Until further notice nothing will change for us since DMV-Fonterra Excipients and Friesland Foods Domo Pharma will continue to be active as two wholly independent entities. At this stage there has been no agreement to merge these pharmaceutical activities.

FrieslandCampina will automatically become a shareholder in DMV-Fonterra Excipients and is equally committed to the success of DMV- Fonterra Excipients as Campina and Fonterra both have always been.

Please be assured that we will inform you on any further developments. In case you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
